Pennsylvania has been awarded $41,326,299 in competitive federal Race to the Top program. Funds will be allocated over four years. A significant focus of the grant will be the statewide implementation of a new teacher evaluation system based upon the current statewide teacher evaluation pilot. Additional funds will be utilized to implement a new principal evaluation, continue to develop Pennsylvania’s Standards Aligned System (SAS), increase students’ and families’ access to charter schools, and increase access to online curricula in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. PSEA was not involved in the development of this grant application.
